After having killed hundreds of its employees, the war is now reaching the United Nations Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) itself.

On January 29, UNRWA declared that it would not be able to continue to operate in the Gaza Strip  beyond the end of February if funding were not resumed, reported Global News.

The United States and other several countries decided to suspend funding to UNRWA after the Israeli accusation against some of its staff members’ alleged involvement in the October 7 attack.

“If the funding is not resumed, UNRWA will not be able to continue its services and operations across the region, including in Gaza, beyond the end of February,” a spokesperson for the agency said.

Asharq Al-Awsat and agencies reported that also Japan added itself in the list of countries suspending funding to UNRWA. It was the last country to take this decision till now.

“At the same time, Japan will continue to make persistent and active diplomatic efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and to calm down the situation as soon as possible by providing support to other international organizations,” Japanese foreign ministry said in a statement, reported AFP.
