Turkey inks security deal with Syria for weapons supply

Turkey has inked a security deal with Syria to support Damascus with military training as well as equipment procurement, according to a Turkish defense ministry source, Middle East Eye via Reuters reported on August 14th.

On August 13th, the defence ministers of Syria and Turkey signed a “joint training consultancy memorandum of understanding” at a visit to Ankara by Syrian officials to talk about Syria’s security issues.

The deal is seen as a move that could help Syria reshape its armed forces, transfer expert knowledge and gain the right equipment to boost its military capacity.
