Israeli troops recover body of Gaza hostage

The body of Youssef Ziyadne, who is a Bedouin citizen of Israel taken hostage by Hamas-led fighters on October 7th 2023, has been found in a tunnel in Gaza and there is evidence indicating his son has also been killed, the Israeli military said on January 8th.

How Ziyadne’s was killed was not immediately clear but Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said his death did not look like it was recent, The New Arab and agencies reported.

During a briefing, Shoshani told reporters: “We are currently investigating the circumstances of his death and we are also investigating the findings regarding his son.”

Shoshani also said that “[t]hese findings raise concern for his life and they are still being examined at this moment,” but did not give details.
