Over 120 killed by shelling near Sudanese capital
The shelling of an area Omdurman, Khartoum’s twin city, which is just across the River Nile has killed over 120 people, according to Sudanese volunteer rescuers, The New Arab and agencies reported.
Taking place on January 13th, the “random shelling” in western Omdurman caused the deaths of 120 civilians, according to the Ombada Emergency Response Room, which forms part of a network of volunteer rescuers within the country.
The network said the death toll provides an initial figure and did not say who was specifically responsible for the attack.
The rescuers said medical supplies were falling short at a serious level, as health workers were finding it difficult to treat “a large number of wounded people suffering from varying degrees of injuries.”
