Guterres calls for evacuation of 2500 Gaza children
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on January 30th called for 2500 children from Gaza to be urgently evacuated to get medical treatment, after meeting with US doctors who said the children were likely to face death in weeks, The New Arab via Reuters reported.
The four doctors were all volunteering in Gaza during the 15-month conflict that has destructed the enclave of over two million people and its healthcare system.
Before the ceasefire started on January 19th, the World Health Organization (WHO) said over 12,000 patients were awaiting medical evacuations and it had hoped this could be stepped up during the truce.
