Israel has escalated its assault on the occupied West Bank with airstrikes and ground operations, causing thousands of Palestinians to flee their homes, The New Arab reported.

The military assault, which began on January 19th in Jenin, has left the West Bank city in ruins, while humanitarian aid remains blocked by the Israeli army.

The Israeli army has killed 26 Palestinians during their assault on the West Bank, leaving dozens wounded. A hospital director in Jenin has confirmed that parts of the medical centre had experienced damages due to the Israeli air strikes.

Israeli forces have expanded their attack to the West Bank city of Tulkarm over the past eight days, along with the northeastern town of Tammun and the Fara’a refugee camp on February 2nd.

The Palestinian ministry of health reported that the destruction of medical facilities by Israeli forces left many Palestinians without access to vital care. Palestinian families have been under siege with limited access to food, medicine, and basic services.

The Israeli assault has resulted in mass evacuations, with Israeli soldiers forcing families from their homes. Additionally, soldiers imposed strict blockades on local roads, restricting travel for Palestinians.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, called for an emergency session of the UN Security Council on February 2nd as a result of Israel’s devastating raids on the West Bank. Abbas said that the attacks on Palestinian towns and residential areas, along with the displacement of civilians are “a deliberate strategy to erase the Palestinian presence.”

“This policy of collective punishment, which includes home demolitions, arbitrary detentions, and violence against civilians, is designed to break the will of the Palestinian people and force them from their land,” The Palestinian Authority said in a statement.
