Turkish academic’s visa revoked over possession of Hamas document

A Turkish academic working at a UK university has had his visa revoked by the UK government, as police found a widely disseminated Hamas media document on the man’s phone in a Schedule 7 airport stop, Middle East Eye reported on February 13th.

The academic, whose name cannot be disclosed due to legal reasons and is identified in court documents as AA, said he had been informed that his Visa had been revoked during a visit to see family in Turkey, months after his phone was seized.

Having studied and worked in the UK since 2020, AA is currently appealing against his loss of residency.
