At least $53 billion required to rebuild Gaza, UN says
Over $53 billion people will be needed to rebuild Gaza and stop the “humanitarian catastrophe” that has effected the war-torn area, including $20 billion for the initial three years, the United Nations has said, Al-Monitor via AFP reported on February 11th.
In a report the global body said that a “political and security framework” must be formed so that the rebuilding and recovery can start and the preliminary work can be put in place for a political process to swiftly stop the Israeli occupation “and establish a viable two-State solution.”
The majority of Gaza, such as schools, hospitals and other civic infrastructure have been reduced to rubble by an extreme Israeli military offensive after the Hamas attack of October 7th 2023.
