MSF suspends operations in famine-hit displacement camp in Sudan
The medical charity MSF has said that it has had no choice but to suspend its operations in the famine-hit Zamzam displacement camp, located in North Darfur in Sudan, due to ongoing attacks and conflict both in and surrounding it, Asharq Al-Awsat via Reuters reported on February 24th.
In a statement sent to journalists, the charity said: “Despite widespread starvation and immense humanitarian needs, we have no choice but to take the decision to suspend all our activities in the camp, including the MSF field hospital.”
In February so far, the charity’s teams have treated 139 patients who have suffered gunshot and sharpnel wounds, within its field hospital.
