Israel army unit tasked with falsely linking journalists to Hamas

Israel’s army formed a unit which was tasked with linking journalists to the militant group, Hamas, in a bid to justify their killings, The New Arab reported on August 15th.

In an investigation conducted by +972 Magazine it was reported that the unit, known as the the “legitimisation cell”, was set up following the October 7th 2023 attacks on Israel by Hamas.

The unit was responsible for accumulating information that could serve the purpose of Israeli propaganda. According to the investigation, the unit was also instructed to find journalists in Gaza that could be portrayed as covert Hamas members.
