Libya: eastern government forms new body to tackle power crisis

Libya’s Director of the Reconstruction and Development Fund, of the eastern government, has announced a new committee to tackle the electricity crisis that is causing blackouts disrupting everyday life, according to the Libya Review on August 27th.
The committee will focus on interventions to address issues in power generation, transmission and distribution, as well as long term strategies.
Prime Minister Hammad of the eastern government recently dismissed the head of the General Electricity Company, reflecting the pressure to address one of the largest challenges Libya faces.
