Palestinian president Abbas hints Lebanon could ban Hamas

Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, has suggested that Lebanon might end up banning Hamas, as Palestinian camps undergo a disarmament process led by Lebanon’s authorities, The New Arab via Al-Akhbar newspaper reported on August 28th.
The Palestinian Authority’s envoys which are overseeing the disarmament in Lebanon’s refugee camps said this during talks with Lebanese officials, according to local sources.
Reportedly, the move intends to “expose Hamas, isolate it, and portray it as illegitimate.” The disarmament process follows a Beirut meeting between the Palestinian leader and Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun during May.
