Tunisian rights groups reel from latest blow to freedom
Share

Tunisian rights groups and journalists have denounced the dissolution of the National Authority for Access to Information by the Tunisian government, as reported by Maghrebi week on September 1st.

The decision is the latest setback for freedoms and access to information in a country which has regressed into a cycle of repression since President Kais Saied started ruling by decree in 2021.

Journalistic freedoms in Tunisia have eroded, with many being imprisoned alongside other dissidents of the regime, particularly those voicing pro-Palestine stances.
