Hamas claims responsibility for Jerusalem bus stop attack

The military arm of Hamas on September 9th claimed responsibility for a bus stop attack which took place on September 8th in Jerusalem, resulting in the deaths of at least six and causing a number of others to suffer wounds, according to The New York Times via Reuters.
Not too long after the admission of responsibility came from the Qassam Brigades, Israel carried out unannounced strikes on Hamas leaders in Qatar’s Doha, where they had been in talks over a ceasefire proposal.
The proximity between the two events creates a heightened sense of doubt as to whether Israel and Hamas could ever achieve a long-term ceasefire.
