Arrest warrant request for Israeli president turned down by UK

The UK has turned down an application for an arrest warrant against the Israeli President Isaac Herzog who met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on September 10th in London, Middle East Eye reported on September 11th.

The application was filed by the pro-Palestine NGO Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA). The arrest warrant was rejected by the UK attorney general, Lord Richard Hermer, and the director of public prosecutions (DPP) Stephen Parkinson.

The FOA chair, Ismail Patel, said the DPP asserted that the DPP had “failed” to acquire all the right information to go ahead with the arrest warrant.
