Investments in Tunisia rise by 12.1%

The volume of declared investments across all sectors in Tunisia at the national level, between January and July 2025, has risen by 12.1% compared to the same period in 2024, reports African Manager on September 18.
The figures come from the July 2025 Declared Investments in Figures report, published by the Tunisian Investment Authority (TIA).
According to the report, during the first seven months of 2025, Tunisia has seen an increase of 7.2% year-on-year, generating around 53,198 job opportunities.
Creation projects are expected to generate 85% of declared jobs (45,469 positions) and already account for 70% of declared investments (950 million USD).
The industrial sector accounted for 37% of total declared investments and 40% of projected jobs, underscoring its central role in the Tunisian economy. However, the report noted a 12.7% decline in declared investments for the sector, while job creation registered only a modest increase of 0.6%.
The service sector ranked in second place in the Tunisian economy, with investments of nearly $300 million USD, and created 46% of jobs. A 25% raise in investment and a 14.4% increase in declared jobs.
Agriculture ranked third whilst Tourism ranked fourth with $149.30 million USD, which, when combined, make up 33% of total investment.
Meanwhile, the renewable energy sector represented 8% of the total investment, seeing $106 million USD. A number that will likely increase in future as Tunisia continues to partner with foreign nations in clean energy projects.
Regionally speaking, Tunis accounted for the greatest rate of declared investments at 11%.
Purely Tunisian investments accounted for 70% of the total, while projects with foreign participation made up the subsequent 30%. The latter will generate 11,178 jobs, a number that will make up 21% of total employment.
The Tunisian prime minister has stated she expects trade with Egypt to reach $1 billion USD by the end of the next five years, undoubtedly elongating the upward trend reported by the TIA. As it currently stands, Egypt invests only 3.45 million USD in Tunisia.
