Luxembourg has declared plans to recognise Palestinian statehood later in September, in which the nation will make a final decision following talks with other nations at the upcoming UN General Assembly, according to The New Arab on September 16th.

Local media has reported that on September 15th, a parliamentary commission was announced by Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel.

The nation has been a longtime supporter of a two-state solution for the Gaza conflict and is now the seventh western nation to announce plans to recognise Palestinian statehood after France, the UK, Canada, Australia, Belgium and Malta.
