Lebanon foils attempt to smuggle Captagon to Saudi Arabia

Authorities in Lebanon have foiled a drug trafficking network’s attempts to smuggle cannabis and Captagon pills to Saudi Arabia, The National via Lebanon’s National News Agency reported on September 15th.

A total of “6.5 million Captagon pills and 700kg of cannabis” was seized by security officials which were destined for Saudi Arabia, according to Ahmad Hajjar, the interior minister of Lebanon.

Hajjar also said the trafficking network had connections to Australia, Turkey and Jordan. A number of the network’s members and its ringleader were arrested following a surveillance mission which had gone on for months.
