Union in favour of banning Israel from European football

The majority of members of UEFA —the Union of European Football Associations— have favoured the suspension of Israel from European football, the Middle East Eye via the Times reported on September 25th.
The ban comes after UN experts urged for a ban on Israel from football competitions on September 23rd, saying that “sporting bodies must not turn a blind eye to grave human rights violations”.
The UN experts also stressed that the sports industry must let get go of the assumption that it is “business as usual.” An official meeting will be held in the coming days in order to make a formal decision.
