Israeli obligations unclear in US Gaza peace plan

Israel’s obligations in US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan are reportedly vague, according to Maghrebi Week on October 6th.
The proposal stipulates that Hamas will have 48 hours to free Israeli captives before disarming and giving up its authority over Gaza. The Israeli military will then withdraw from Gaza; however, there is no timeline detailed for when Israel is expected to withdraw.
Daniel Levy, a UK-Israeli former peace negotiator, said the vagueness of the plan “allows Israel to blame the other side when either a deal is not reached or when Netanyahu decides to desist from implementing and resumes the genocide assault.”
