Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced on October 7th that she had been referred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over purported complicity in genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, according to the Middle East Eye via Reuters.

In an interview with the television company RAI, Meloni revealed that she had been referred to the ICC along with Defence Minister Guido Crosetto and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

Meloni said the head of the Italian-based Leonardo defence group, Roberto Cingolani, may have also been referred to the ICC. The announcement comes amid rising frustration in Italy over Meloni’s apparent reluctance to condemn Israel’s war on Gaza.
