Palestinians warned by Israel not to celebrate prisoner releases

Israeli forces distributed flyers, which warned Palestinian residents in the Occupied West Bank not to celebrate the release of prisoners, which forms part of the ceasefire deal, the Middle East Eye via Al Jazeera reported on October 12th.

The flyers, distributed in areas where prisoners’ families live, stated that “anyone who participates in such activities exposes himself to punishment and arrest.”

The US-led ceasefire would see 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences or lengthy sentences, as well as 1,700 Palestinian detainees from Gaza released by Israel, in return for Hamas to free the remaining Israeli captives.
