Cameroon elections in dispute after opposition leader claims victory
Cameroon was thrown into crisis after both outgoing President Paul Biya and opposition leader Issa Tchiroma claimed victory during its presidential election, according to Africa News via the Associated Press on October 20th.
Young Cameroonians were keeping watch in front of Tchiroma’s home, fearing his arrest after the current government announced measures against any early claims.
Official results are expected to be released later this week, following elections held on October 12th, but several appeals have already been lodged alleging fraud.
