On October 20th, Nigerian police forces fired teargas against protestors to stop demonstrations in favour of clearing separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu from terrorism charges, Reuters has reported.

The demonstrations took over major roads of Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, where supporters of Kanu protested against his detention.

Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, a banned group that advocates for the independence of southeastern Nigeria, home to an Igbo ethnic majority.
