A planned summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump has been delayed according to Arab News via Reuters on October 21st, following Russia’s refusal of a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Following a two-hour call on October 16, both sides had revealed plans to meet in Budapest to discuss ways to resolve Russia’s conflict with Ukraine, however no schedule has been confirmed.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated it was “premature” to discuss preparations, while Trump, facing a U.S. government shutdown, expressed frustration at stalled peace efforts and ongoing tensions with Moscow and Kyiv.
