On the night of June 7th, four Tunisian soldiers tragically lost their lives in a military helicopter crash, according to Middle East Online.

During a night flight near Bizerte on June 7th, the Ministry of Defense reported that contact with the helicopter was lost. The same night, the helicopter was discovered to have crashed into the sea.

In the early hours of June 8th, the Tunisian navy recovered two bodies from the crash.

President Kais Saied has attributed the helicopter crash to the aging Tunisian military fleet and has urged the Ministry of Defense, specifically Imed Memich, to modernize military equipment.

This incident is not an isolated occurrence, as a similar tragedy took place in 2021 when three soldiers lost their lives in an army helicopter crash during a nighttime exercise.
