60 dead as migrant boat sinks in Cape Verde

More than 60 migrants are presumed to have died on board a boat that left the coast of Senegal at the beginning of July and was found off the coast of Cape Verde on August 14.
International Organisation for Migration (IOM) spokeswoman Sara Msehli said on August 16, that an estimated 63 people died whilst 38 survived the shipwreck. Amongst the casualties aboard the pirogue, there were four children between the ages of twelve and sixteen, according to the AFP.
The boat was spotted in the Atlantic around 277 km from the Cape Verdean Island of Sal by a Spanish fishing vessel. This alerted the Cape Verdean authorities, said the Archipelago islands’ police.
