As reported by AFP via Arab News, approximately 24 million Algerians are set to vote on September 7th, with incumbent President Abdelmadjid Tebboune facing little challenge as he seeks a second term.

His primary challenge is securing a higher voter turnout than in 2019, when he won the presidency with 58 percent of the vote but faced a record abstention rate of over 60 percent.

Tebboune’s campaign is supported by key political parties, including the FLN, which led Algeria’s fight for independence from France.
