EU to create “return hubs”, in effort to deport more migrants

The European Union has announced a plan on Tuesday to deport more migrants and for the creation of “return hubs” outside the EU, in latest migration policy shift, says DW on March 12th.
The plan aims at creating a set of common regulations across the bloc to allow any EU country to enforce a deportation order, even if it is issued by another EU country. As of now, one in five asylum seekers with no stay permit are returned to their country.
While the proposal has been welcomed by far-right parties, human rights activists have called “return hubs” a euphemism for deportation centres and fear it will put further strain on migrants.
