Mabrouk Oil Operations Company restarts production

Libya’s Mabrouk Oil Operations Company has restarted production after a decade long shutdown in operations.
According to The Libya Observer, the company said production started again at Al Mabrouk oil field on March 9th, the company is reportedly producing an initial output of 5,000 barrels of oil per day.
Mabrouk Oil Operations Company said they will increase this to 7,000 barrels per day by the end of March. They said this number will increase again as they aim to produce 25,000 barrels each day by July 2025.
Crude oil exports to the field in Al-Bahi started on March 11th, as Libya aims to restore its oil industry after many years of disruption.
At the same time, Libya’s first private oil company is growing rapidly marking a new, less centrally controlled approach to oil production in Libya.
However, although Libya is so oil rich, producing 60% of the countries GDP in 2024, one third of Libyans are currently living in poverty.
