US launches airstrike’s against Houthi rebels in Yemen, killing four

The US has carried out a series of airstrikes against Houthi rebel targets in the Yemeni cities of Hodeidah and Sanaa, killing four people.
As reported by The New Arab, the strikes primarily targeted Houthi-controlled water infrastructure and military facilities.
Houthi Health Ministry spokesperson Anees Alasbahi confirmed the casualties, stating in an official statement that the number of victims had” risen to four martyrs and three wounded”.
While the US has not yet publicly commented on the strikes, they come at a time of heightened tensions between the US and the Houthi rebels.
As previously reported by Maghrebi, since the inauguration of President Trump in January, the US has regularly conducted airstrikes in Yemen, starting on March 15. This escalation is a response to the Houthis targeting Israeli and Western commercial shipping in both the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The Houthis claim these attacks are acts of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, but they have caused significant disruptions to global shipping and economic instability. The constant assaults on key trade routes have forced many shipping companies to reroute vessels around Africa. resulting in increased costs and rising global prices.
In addition to targeting commercial vessels, the Houthis have launched attacks in US naval ships. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed that the group had targeted the US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman “for the third time in 24 hours”.
President Trump has condemned the Houthis actions, declaring in March on social media: “No terrorist force will stop commercial and naval vessels from freely sailing the waterways of the world.”
The Gulf of Aden and Red Sea shipping routes account for approximately 12% of global trade. With attacks persisting, the situation remains, volatile, threating further disruptions to the global economy.
