Morocco to spend £610m on emergency stockpiles nationwide

Morocco will invest 7 billion dirhams (£610 million) in nationwide emergency stockpiles, following King Mohammed VI’s directive after the deadly 2023 High Atlas earthquake.
According to The Arab Weekly plus agencies, the plan includes 36 storage sites and vital supplies, ranging from mobile hospitals to chemical threat gear, aimed at rapid disaster response amid growing climate threats.
Authorities say this strategic preparedness move addresses Morocco’s increasing exposure to floods, wildfires, and extreme weather.
