UK reaffirms neutrality on Sahara, deepens Morocco trade

The UK government has reaffirmed its neutrality on the Western Sahara dispute, while backing a UN-led resolution while strengthening trade ties with Morocco, according to Hespress, a Moroccan government friendly outlet, on May 8th.
Trade Minister Douglas Alexander said British support for projects like Morocco’s 2030 World Cup infrastructure aligns with international law and avoids political interference.
Responding to MP Ashley Fox’s concerns about business interests, Alexander emphasised coordinated efforts between UK trade and foreign policy departments to balance diplomacy with commercial priorities in the region.
