Sudan’s new PM dissolves caretaker government

Sudan’s newly appointed Prime Minister Kamil Idris has dissolved the existing caretaker government, as reported by Saudi News Agency Asharq Al-Awsat on June 2nd.
The timeline for announcing a new cabinet remains unclear. Idris, named by army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, is the first prime minister since the 2021 military coup. His appointment comes amid continued conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has declared intentions to form a rival government.
In his inaugural speech, Idris pledged neutrality toward political groups and emphasised his focus on restoring security, stability, and rebuilding war-torn Sudan.
