Mali introduces $10,000 visa fee on US visitors
On October 10th, Mali announced it will impose a $10,000 fee for tourism and business visas for United States nationals, the BBC reported.
The bond was established as a response from the West African country to the similar requirements established by the Trump administration for Malian citizens visiting the United States, justified by the US embassy in Mali as a “commitment to protecting America’s borders and safeguarding US national security”.
The visa fees come as a shift in policy – and primarily as a response to President Trump’s crackdown on immigration – as both countries had recently attempted moves to improve their bilateral diplomatic relations.
