Former Kenyan PM and presidential candidate dies at 80
Former prime minister and presidential candidate of Kenya, Raila Odinga, known for his political influence and populist campaigns, died of a heart attack aged 80 in India on October 15th, the Associated Press has reported.
Raila Odinga’s career was marked by attempts to navigate the complex ethnic political landscape of the East African country, from his detention fighting against the military junta rule in the 1980s to his multiple presidential campaigns.
Odinga’s death was confirmed by the Devamatha Hospital in India’s Kerala State, where he had been travelling.
