UN: World Food Programme operations impacted by funding cuts
The UN warned that severe funding cuts from the US and other top donors are impacting the delivery of its flagship World Food Programme (WFP), according to Associated Press on 15th October.
Six countries are particularly affected: Afghanistan, Congo, Haiti, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan, placing over 13.7 million recipients at risk of emergency levels of hunger.
The agency had already been forced to scale back its operations in Sudan last April because of the funding crisis, with a 40% reduction of its budget.
