Turkey seeks two-year extension of military presence in Libya
Turkey has asked its parliament to extend its military mandate in Libya by two years, citing the risk of renewed instability if international engagement wanes, according to Maghrebi Week on December 22.
The motion, signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, emphasises support for UN-led efforts, a lasting ceasefire, and fair elections as central to Libya’s fragile calm.
Ankara says its continued presence, backed by bilateral agreements and expanding cooperation, is vital to Libya’s stability and regional security.
