US special forces captured Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, before flying them out of the country, during a pre-dawn assault on Caracas and the surrounding region on January 3rd, The Telegraph and other agencies have reported.
US President Donald Trump hailed the offensive “as a brilliant operation” in a post on social media, after witnesses reported U.S military helicopters flying overhead in the Venezuelan capital.
The US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, said the couple would face criminal charges in the US, adding that they “will face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts.”
