Cameroon: opposition leader calls for “ghost town” protests
Cameroon’s opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who has questioned election results following Paul Biya’s re-election, has urged his supporters to take part in 3 days of “ghost town” protests, according to RFI on October 31st.
Ghost town protests aim to immobilise the country’s economy, with people staying at home, closing their businesses and not going to work.
Tchiroma is already facing legal actions for declaring himself the winner and for inciting protests, as there were growing tensions and unrest after Biya won his eight term in power.
