Libya factions agree on new central bank governor
The two main blocs in Libya have agreed to appoint a new central bank governor in talks presided over by UN officials on September 3rd, according to Reuters.
The House of Representatives based in Benghazi, in eastern Libya, and the State Council in Tripoli in the west signed a joint statement after two days of talks hosted by the UN Support Mission in Libya.
They agreed to appoint a central bank governor and board of directors within 30 days so as to ease the flow of cash for oil revenues and salaries, after the abrupt departure of the previous governor who fled the country fearing for his life.
