Algerian Opposition Leader Seeks US Medical Aid
Algerian opposition leader Rachid Nekkaz, released in January on a presidential pardon and saying he was sick with cancer, has appealed to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to allow him to travel to the US, where his family is, for treatment.
Nekkaz, who remains under house arrest, said March 18th on Facebook that he had written a letter to Tebboune “asking him to intervene personally so that he can legally leave the country and undergo surgery as soon as possible.”
The opponent said he suffered from a serious eye disease and prostate cancer.
