More than 3,000 people have died from cholera in Sudan, according to Asharq Al Awsat plus agencies on October 19th.

These figures come from a report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), which also warned that there are a further 120,000 cases of cholera in Sudan.

The cholera outbreak has been exacerbated by the country’s ongoing civil war between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RFS), as attacks on infrastructure – including water supplies – have created an environment that increases the spread of diseases like cholera.
