To mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances on August 30th, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya drew attention to two Libyan MPs who remain missing, as reported in Maghrebi Weekly on September 8th.

Ibrahim al-Dersi was abducted in 2024 and Siham Sirgewa in 2019, but no official investigation has been launched into either case, and disturbing footage has surfaced online of both MPs that document torture and detention.

UNSMIL highlighted that the disclosure of the fates of all those who have suffered enforced disappearances is crucial for reconciliation and for Libya to gain political stability.
